Khod khod kar chooha mar gaya, mauj kare sarpala
Jod Jod kar mooji mar gaya, mauj kare kharchala

Snakes (sarpala) never dig a hole to live. They eat up the rats (chooha) and live in holes dug by them
Similarly, a spendthrift (kharchala) enjoys the savings done by a miser (mooji)


Choice is urs - chooha or sarpala?

My paternal grandfather told me this one long ago - one of the few ones I recall offhand always. He passed away on Jan 1, 1998. He was such a smart person ... Will miss him always ... may his soul rest in peace!!
